Movie Scores

I really do love music. Not as passionately, it seems, as some. But I am very moved by music. I love musicals and singing along and feeling what they feel. And with the advent of Pandora I am at greater liberty to hear those sounds that really move me. I remember my first cassette tape. Yes, cassette tape. It was the soundtrack to Sister Act. I laugh just thinking about that. I had every single word memorized. I would lay in bed at night with my headphones on and listen to the songs over and over and over. I simply loved music and the urge it gave me to sing along.

I had no idea movie scores were so incredibly beautiful. I had the Titantic soundtrack which to this day is so hauntingly beautiful that when I hear it I can’t help but pause for a moment and appreciate the sound, the movement, the harmony, the passion of the composer and musicians who brought those pages and pages of notes to life.

I just didn’t appreciate how moving entire movie scores could be. I feel like the composers are being shortchanged because who ever says “Listening to Independence Day movie score.” I always recognized parts in movies when the music would tell you what the next scene was going to be before the scene got there. I LOVE the music in the Jason Bourne films. It makes me want to try to drive my truck off a building top just to try and land it on another one. I believe I love music because it makes me want to do something. Especially when that music is connected to something in a movie that inspires me to just… run or jump or yell or sing or dance or laugh or try harder, or love.

My list of favorites thus far:
                Titanic
                Bourne Identity
                Batman Begins
                Pirates of the Caribbean
